How Can Three Masters in Their Twenties Not Have a Ritsuka Fujimaru Between Them?

There is a flash of light; a crackling sound, like faraway thunder, like stepping on glass; and the next thing she knows, she's on the floor, blinking the light out of her eyes.

"Mash?!" Senpai's voice echoes to her ears. A hand touches her shoulder. "Mash, are you okay?!"

She blinks rapidly. Everytime she opens her eyes back up, the world takes a more solid form. Soon she gets colors back, then shapes, making sense of what her eyes actually perceive.

"I- I'm fine." She tilts her head back up- and pauses. "I'm... fine?"

She blinks again. Brings a hand up. Rubs her eyes.

Two Senpais still fret worriedly around her.

There are many Senpais now that she's looking, actually. Some are wearing different clothes, some look completely different while wearing the Chaldean uniform, but somehow there is no doubt in her mind that all of these are Ritsuka Fujimaru. "... Senpai?"

"I'm here. I'm here." The Senpai kneeling left to her rubs her forearm.

She turns to the one kneeling to her right. "Senpai?"

But they shake their head. "I'm the Kouhai, actually."

... What?

"Ah, I think I got it." Sion's voice comes crackled through the communicator. "That crystal tears parts of you away from your core when you touch it. Hence why Fujimaru is now, well, literally in pieces."

The Fujimaru wearing priest robes quirks up an eyebrow. "That seems mildly worrying. Is there a way to fix this?"

"The most obvious solution would be to find the base Fujimaru, and have everyone fuse back with them."

"The base one? That's got to be me." Senpai nods to themself. "I've been Mash's Senpai ever since I came to Chaldea."

"And BB's Senpai."

"That part was against my will."

Another Fujimaru moves through the crowd. "It could also be me." This one looks... tired, is the best way Mash has to put it. They've got large bags under their eyes, and their clothes are covered in soot. "I'm Humanity's Last Master."

Another Fujimaru, more mature-looking, shakes their head. "Ritsuka Fujimaru isn't solely defined by who they are in Chaldea. I believe the truth is elsewhere."

"A good point." Humanity's Last Master concedes. "Why don't we just do a role call, then? Ritsuka Fujimaru is bound to be among us."

"Well. Once more, I'm Senpai." The one to Mash's left says. "And this is Kouhai."

"I'm Anchin." Says the one in the priest garb. "I'm Christine." Says the one in a dress.

"I'm Mommy." Says the mature-looking one. "I'm the Accomplice." Says a tired one in a green cape. "We're Reindeer, Puppy and Deerlet," says the three furries.

The list goes on, and on, and on, and Humanity's Last Master grows increasingly restless. "There's no way," they hiss through grit teeth. "Where is Ritsuka Fujimaru?" But no one introduce themself by that name. "Which one of you is Ritsuka Fujimaru?" But no one answers that call.

In a last, desperate bid, they turn to Mash with pleading eyes. "Who is Ritsuka Fujimaru?" They ask. "Who is Ritsuka Fujimaru?"

No one here has an answer, and Mash, she realizes, doesn't have one either.

Akkreti: Oghh, how do you describe a person beyond their roles in your life? Who is Ritsuka Fujimaru beyond the mirror someone wants to see, beyond the wish granter, the holy grail that Servants yearned for?

Ice399: *crying screaming throwing up*

Stormy_Person: Guda is a mirror. They're silly with the GUDAGUDAs, they're honorable when surrounded by knights and warriors, they're respectful when around kings, and they're willing to resort to sabotage and deceit when surrounded by antiheroes. They're shaped by the perceptions of those around them - Mash sees them as a kind and determined senpai, Goredolf sees them as a somewhat silly but still hardworking subordinate, Kadoc sees them as an extremely ridiculous coworker, and so on. Perhaps that's why they care so much about the Doctor, because he saw them as they are - a person forced into a horrible situation who has no choice but to keep sacrificing pieces of themself, and who deserves to have all the assistance he can give.
